Cost has long been an obstacle for many patients to receive the medication they need, and gaining access to medical devices like inhalers and glucometers can be just as difficult. But at Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh (DCPP), we believe that cost and access should never prevent a patient from being happy, healthy, and taken care of.
That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a brand new collaboration between Blueberry Pharmacy and Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh. Beginning October 1, 2021, patients of our practice are now eligible to receive all the member benefits of Blueberry Pharmacy.
Since Blueberry opened in March 2020, we have been pleasantly surprised to find that their pricing for generic medications is more affordable than our previous costs. In addition, they offer consultative services with a residency trained PharmD, including medication reviews, assistance in finding cost-savings opportunities for branded medications, and instruction on the use of certain medical devices, including inhalers and glucometers.

Will Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh still be dispensing medication themselves?
As we enter into this new collaboration, Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh will phase out our own dispensing of maintenance medications in favor of Blueberry Pharmacy. We will still have some antibiotics, inhalers, and similar types of medications available for any urgent needs that may arise during an office visit.
