Dr. Byard was born and raised in Pittsburgh, she graduated from Upper St. Clair High school in 1995, afterwards attending college and graduating from Chatham University with her biochemistry degree. She did not take the traditional path into medicine; she worked for 8 years at a biotech company before deciding to change careers. She headed off to medical school as a single parent of a 4 year old son, and graduated with her M.D. in 2011. She attended the family medicine residency at The Washington hospital until 2014 at which time she stayed on as faculty.
Primary care outside of the DPC world is extremely demanding and she was also moonlighting at the Greenbriar treatment center, the Washington County jail, and Tristate Health Services and she decided to take a break from those and consolidate the number of jobs she had to go into urgent care. She stayed in urgent care for 4 years and recently decided to go back to primary care as a direct primary care doctor. She missed her patients and the continuity of care and relationships she was building while in primary care. She now has more time to focus on her work here at DCPP as well as her family. She lives in Peters Township with her family.

Dr Byard is awesome . After my heart attack and having her in the hospital overlooking my care I made her my family doctor . Her bedside manner and the way she cared and took the time to make sure that I understood everything that was going on in my body at the time was a blessing
