Primary Care for Employees across Wexford & Pittsburgh

DPC Health Options for Employer Services

Providing health insurance for employees can be expensive. Additionally, the process of finding the right plan for a business (and the people it employs) can be frustrating and time consuming. Employers, however, are not the only ones who find themselves dissatisfied with work healthcare options. Employees themselves commonly complain about unexpected office fees; difficulty working consistently with an in-network doctor; and a general inconvenience finding helpful, satisfying, in-network healthcare.

Current health coverage options can certainly make employers and employees equally dissatisfied. For employers looking to help employees feel happy, healthy, and productive, the solution lies in a different approach to primary care -- DPC, or Direct Primary Care. At Direct Care Physicians of Pittsburgh, our physicians provide one-on-one, individualized services that allow your employees to truly feel seen and cared for.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) through practices such as ours may be the solution your business is looking for. To schedule a visit or sign up for our services, please contact us at (412) 685-3373 or submit an online appointment request for a free consultation..

FAQs on DPC Health Options for Employer Services:

What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

DPC is a model of healthcare in which patients pay their physician directly for primary care services. The physician does not bill the insurance company. Although it may sound counterintuitive, patients usually save money (while experiencing more personalized care) with a DPC model.

How Does DPC Work For Businesses?

Through a DPC model, businesses simply invest in a monthly DPC access fee. The fee then gives employees who opt in to the program an all-access pass to a DPC doctor. Access is not limited to office visits, however. DPC doctors offer contact options via phone calls, texts, email, and virtual visits, as well. It’s a 21st-century solution that acknowledges that while office visits are best, they aren’t always feasible. It also helps employees avoid taking a full sick day every time they want to connect with their doctor.

How can DPC Help Your Business?

The goal of the DPC model is to allow your employees to get the help they need whenever and wherever it's needed -- without putting you out of business. By communicating with patients as needed -- not just on a first-come, first-serve basis -- DPC doctors can speed up the diagnosis and recovery process for your employees.

DPC visits can also help patients and employees avoid the frustrating expenses that add up in traditional healthcare settings (i.e. lab tests, urgent care fees, ER visits, high deductibles, etc.). Data shows that DPC can decrease the total amount an employer spends on healthcare by double digits. As a bonus, DPC doctors can even visit your office to provide services such as flu shots to your entire team!

Will DPC be Enough for My Team?

DPC is not a replacement for the parts of healthcare insurance that cover catastrophic events. Additionally, DPC cannot provide specialist care, although doctors can guide patients through the medical system should specialist care be needed.
With this in mind, it’s important for businesses to consider these limitations and offer alternative options to their staff when evaluating DPC plans. We typically encourage our patients to obtain at least catastrophic insurance plans. DPC also pairs well with high-deductible plans or health sharing ministries.
